Masquerade, 2014, Photo by Tom FullerDirected by show choir veterans Dave Willert and Doug Kuhl, Masquerade has been nationally ranked for each of their 9 years of existence, and is always a favorite in the Southern California Show Choir circuit. Masquerade had an incredible show and competition season for 2013-2014. Starting off with a 2nd Place at Diamond Bar Spectacular, they also took Best Choreography. Their season continued with a big win at Bonita Vista Legacy, taking a full sweep of First Place, Best Musicianship and Best Show. At FAME Hollywood Masquerade landed a 1st Runner-Up along with Best Vocals, Best Female Soloist (Uche Ewenike), Best Female Stage Presence (Tatiana Alvarez) and Best Crew! It was another full sweep at Cypress Star Reflections, First Place, Best Music and Best Show! The final competition for Masquerade this season was FAME Show Choir Nationals where they competed against the top Advanced Mixed Choirs in the Nation and won a respectable 4th Runner Up and Best Female Soloist (Julianne Sexton)!
Brea Olinda High School’s Masquerade had a wonderful competition season in 2013! 1st Place at Arcadia. Huge Sweep at Bonita Vista – 1st Place, Best Show, Best Music, and caption awards for Best Male Performers: All the Men of Masquerade; Best Soloist: Julianne Sexton; Best Female Performer: Rachel Gallegos. Officers for 2012-2013 were: President: Julia Ludwig, VP’s: Megan Strom and Sam Cho.
Known for their high energy and awe-inspiring imagination, Masquerade won six competitions in 2012-2013, and was the only national show choir featured at the NAMM Show in January, 2012, which was attended by over 100,000 musicians from across the world!
The group’s motto has always been, “Success Finds a Way, Failure Finds An Excuse.”
Masquerade rounded out their illustrious 2012 local competition season with 4 First Places, 4 Best Musicianship Awards, 4 Best Showmanship Awards, 1 Second Place (FAME Hollywood) and 2 Sweepstakes Awards for the highest score of the day in a competition. Masquerade at Fame Nationals.
